In this context, Forestry education serves an important role by providing technical people with the knowledge and practical skills required to support sustainable forest governance and conservation initiatives across the country.Forestryis a crucial and dynamic field with enormous potential for tackling today’s major environmental concerns such as climate change, biodiversity loss, land degradation, and sustainable lifestyles.
The three-year Diploma in Forestry course prepares students with not solely ecological knowledge, but also the tools they require to make a difference in natural resource governance and community resilience. The program is designed to build middle-level manpower capable of working in governmental, non-governmental, and private forestry sectors.The major subject areas in this program are Silviculture, Agroforestry, Forest Management, Forest Mensuration, Soil and Water Conservation, Eco-Tourism and Recreation, Entrepreneurship Development and Wildlife and Bio-diversity Conservation, Community forestry, Forest protection, NTFPs in addition to basic science subjects such as Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc. Also,Students are provided with the opportunities of field tours and Visits in coordination with forestry related institutions to gain real world experience in forestry sector.
